High Tea at Chihuly Lounge, The Ritz Carlton

On this year’s Valentine Day my husband bring me to The Ritz Carlton, Chihuly Lounge for an afternoon high tea. I’m someone who enjoys an afternoon tea session. Which woman doesn’t have extra room for desserts? Pastries along with a cup of coffee or tea are so perfect! This is not our first time visiting The Ritz Carlton but it’s our first time having a tea at Chihuly Lounge. A few years back, we have been to The Greenhouse and we liked it. The overall ambience is nice and pleasing.

My girl is ONE, birthday party at NSRCC

When my girl was around the age of 6 months old, occasionally, I will think of where I should host her first ever birthday party. Initially, I was thinking of going for a holiday but we were afraid that our girl might not like the long journey in an airplane. Other factors like the weather and her adaptability also bother us. In the end, we decided to book a chalet at the National Service Resort and Country Club (NSRCC). It’s a good chance to know if our girl was able to get use to unfamiliar place before we plan for an oversea trip.

My postnatal confinement

As a Chinese, there are so many traditions to follow during the month long postnatal confinement. I always find it ridiculous to follow them. I have done my confinement in a very simple way and received a lot of negative feedback from relatives and friends. They do not understand why I did not follow the traditions.

Some of the popular “rules” are: one must not shower; one has to take a lot of Chinese medicine and herbs, no drinking of water and no fan and air-conditioned are allow during this period. Why does the Chinese practise postnatal confinement? It is because they believe that during childbirth, the mother will lose a lot of blood and ‘Qi’. By doing the above, it will further weaken the mother’s body.

It is a tradition to eat mooncake on this occasion and the young will be playing with lanterns. This year, we bought traditional skin mooncake from Peony Jade and snow skin mooncake from Goodwood Park Hotel.
